Our elf took a slight vacation

While all of your elves were busy posing and hiding in super cute places, our elf decided to hit the road for a while with the promise that he would return when the kids started eating the foods we prepare for dinner without fits and complaints.
Must've worked because that evening Parker and Nolan chowed down on some homemade vegetable lo mien.
Parker left a little note for "Alf" letting him know that they had changed their ways...he was even thoughtful enough to leave it in the bathroom closet next to the cotton balls.
You know, cause elves love to eat cotton balls!

Whatever it takes sometimes, right?!?

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

How can you not love the sparkle, glitz and glam of Christmas Decorations.  Sitting in a dark room with only Christmas lights on is just the best feeling.  This year we chose to do two Christmas trees, one with all of our random ornaments and one themed tree.  Not many people these days are fans of the random ornament tree.  More and more people are doing formal, themed trees.

But to me this year it just felt right...with our house being on the market and it possibly being our last Christmas in this house.  Decorating the tree brought back so many memories and emotions for me.

From baby prints

to our first Christmas together as a married couple

to the ornament I got from my Kindergarten teacher

to the random where in the world is this ornament from...

it just took me to a happy place.

We also started a new tradition of getting a real tree.

(we had intentions of cutting it down ourselves, but the weather didn't want to cooperate)

It fits perfect next to the fireplace in our living room.
(ignore the overflowing toy box in the corner...kids live here!)

I was able to reuse the cabinets from our fall link-up in our Christmas decorations too!  Bonus!!
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to link up!!

Wish List Wednesday

Yesterday, when walking to my car I decided that snow boots should be very high on my wish list!  Like as of right now, nĂºmero uno!  Patent leather flats and cropped pants on a snowy day...not the best idea I've ever had!

1, 2, 3, 4

Also, don't forget about the holiday link up party tomorrow hosted by Jenna, Melissa, Kim and myself.

I'm looking forward to all the different Christmas Decor ideas!

My winter must haves

Each of has our own signature must haves.  Here's a few of the items I just can't live without when the weather gets cold.

Burt's bees hand salve- my knuckles get super dry in the winter so this is my go to product for soothing dry skin.

Burt's bees lip balm-I am a Chapstick snob and will only use this.  I guarantee you will find a stick of this with me at all times.

Glittens aka Part Glove Part Mitten-  I bought similar ones a few years ago at a local boutique.  I absolutely love them because I can flip the mitten part back so I can help zip up jackets or tie shoes when I have recess duty at school.

Fleece leggings- Do I even need to explain why I love my fleece lined leggings?
P.S. I found some at Wal-Mart for like $4.00!!!!

Slippers- I put these on first thing when I get home in the evening.  Super comfy and super warm.  I also love that they have the leather bottoms.

Chai latte- By far my favorite winter drink.
What are some of your must have winter products?

Where did the time go?  No, I'm not just talking about the fact that Christmas will be here before we know it.  I'm talking about the fact that my first born turned 5 over the weekend!
When did time fly by?
When did we become old enough to be the parents of a 5 year old?
I'm in serious denial!
As sad as I am to see him grow up, it brings me such joy to witness his growth and transformation into such a curious and fun young boy.
We celebrated this past weekend with our families, Hulk style!

(The boys after my cousin delivered the cake.  They were in awe!)

Here's to many more!

High Five For Friday

It's been a few weeks since our last high five so I feel like I have so much to share.  Here are just few of my favorites from the last few weeks.
1.  My best friend from college came to stay last weekend.  It's always great catching up and playing slumber party!

2.  I must have looked like a lost puppy the other day at the grocery store as I stared at all of the different coffee creamer choices.  2 different shoppers stopped to give me their input.

I'm glad I listened...they are yummy!! (full disclosure:  French Vanilla was my favorite and no, there is no alcohol in Baileys Creamers.  Bummer, right!?!)

2.5  I enjoyed a cup of coffee in my snowman mug while I blogged last night.

2.75 Nolan wanted in on the action, too.
 "my cup mommy"

3.  The boys painted their pumpkins.

4. Brandon carved his pumpkin.

5.  And last but not least...

Parker turns five this weekend so we went out for the celebratory chips and dip dinner!

We are looking forward to a weekend celebrating Parker with our family.  We hope you find reason to celebrate too!
