Blogger Crush

I've been doing lots of planning in anticipation of the move we will make when our house sells.  We've already purchased some large furniture pieces for the next house but there's lots more I'm wanting to buy...or make!
I love love love Ana White's blog for furniture making plans.  She makes it seem so easy.  I really think I can do it.  My husband on the other hand doesn't have that much faith in me.  One of these days I'll surprise him!!
Here's my "want to do" list courtesy of my current blog crush, Ana White:  (she often teams up with the gals from Shanty2Chic for projects)

Anyone feeling brave??

My Hair Must Haves

I think of myself as pretty low-maintenance in regards to beauty, but I do believe that the products you use in your daily beauty routine are pretty important.
Hmmm, can you tell which hair product company I prefer most?  I grew up a Paul Mitchell fan and have evolved to a lover of all things Redken.  Mmmm, the smell!
Here's a sneak peak into my daily used hair products and routine.
-Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner
You guessed right-blonde hair and dark roots is not my natural color.  Color extend products are definitely needed on this processed hair.
-Color Extend Total Recharge
I spray it on my hair after rinsing out my conditioner.  Right before wrapping my hair in the towel.
-Iron Silk Hair Heat Protection
So so bad to use flat irons or curling irons without heat protection.  Use protection people!!
-Glass 01 Smoothing Serum
It's like the cherry on top of my routine.  The finishing product for smooth shiny hair.

What are your go-to hair products?

Conscious Box-December

You may remember a few many weeks ago when I wished for a monthly box subscription.  Well, Brandon must have been reading cause I got one for Christmas.  I know, I know.  December???  I'm a little behind.  Long story short-my email address got mixed up with my mailing address so my December and January boxes shipped out a little later than normal, putting me a few weeks behind on my posting.  Lucky for me we live in a small town and our wonderful mail lady knew it was mine by my email address.  BONUS!!

Not familiar with Conscious Box?  Basically it's a monthly subscription of natural products that shows up each month at your door.  Here's a list of the items in my December box.

Last Round Natural Hangover Support -Haven't used it's about time someone throws a party so I have an excuse!  ;)

Herbal Zap Immune Support All Natural Ayurvedic Herbal Supplement-  Reminds me EmergenC

Earthpaste Amazingly Natural Toothpaste- Not bad if you don't mind the taste of cinnamon flavored tree bark.  But hey, my teeth felt pretty clean!

Epic Dental Fresh Fruit Xylitol Gum - Good Flavor, liked it!

Nordic Naturals Omega 3 Jellies -

Biobag Compostable Sandwich Bag- Brandon just about used this as a doggy doodoo bag.  Guess it would work for that too!

Gnu Foods Fiber Love Bar- LOVED this fiber bar! I had the Banana Walnut.  Very moist and flavorful!

FruitsMax Whole Food Supplement- Little fruit flavored chewables as a supplement for your daily fruit intake.

Wholesome Sweeteners-I've been using these daily in my coffee and tea.

Country Life Triple Action Stress Shield Nighttime- I slept like a baby, but then again I don't need much help.  This girl likes her sleep and doesn't have a problem getting a good night's rest.

The Source Coffee Company Roasted Coffee Beans-

Country Life Coenzyme B-Complex-

Farmer Gene's Tiny but Mighty Popcorn-

Jiva Coffee Cubes- Little cubes of coffee that you just toss in your hot water.  Perfect for someone without space for a coffee machine.

TreeSmart Pencils

I have also received my January box.  I'll let you know how that one is in a few weeks!  Are you a member of a monthly box subscription?  I'd love to hear about it.

You light up my world

Happy Valentine's day!!

The highlight of Parker and Nolan's day-their Valentines!  I took the easy way out this year with both kids passing out the same valentine.
Here's the free printable I used for this year's valentines!
(why reinvent the wheel, right)

Gotta show some love to their teacher's, too!

And I can't forget my school kids.

Looking forward to a family dinner tonight and the new Lego movie. Not to mention a day full of chocolate!

Oh Snap

In just a few weeks I will be celebrating my 1 year blogiversary. (not a real word but we're going with it) With this 1 year milestone quickly approaching I've been thinking about ways to make the blog better.

 Idea #1:
I think it's about time I graduate to a better camera.

Idea #2:
Sticking to a blogging schedule is definitely needed.  You get out of it what you put into it!

Idea #3:
It's time I start being more confident in myself and my blog ideas.  There are so many posts I have written but have not shared because I always worry about what everyone else thinks.

Here's to making the blog better!

I Believe...

Just having a little fun on the blog today with some random, playful thoughts!
 I believe...

Justin Timberlake should be a permanent fixture on SNL.

In karma.

You don't have to be the best, but no one should be better just because they worked harder!

Any and all DIY remedies found on Pinterest.
No joke- I've tried coffee beans and olive oil for stretch marks (TMI?? sorry!!), a cinnamon scrub (it burns people) and vinegar and lemons (smells absolutely horrible but it works) on the face.

You should check out the first of my "Local Talent" posts.  Deadline for the giveaway is this Thursday the 6th.

Happy Tuesday!!

Local Talent AND A GIVEAWAY!!!

So, I've been working on this really fun blog series and I'm so excited to kick it off with a dear friend of mine!  I have had the privilege of working with her and her husband for the past few years and am thrilled that they both have been able to do what they love, teach and create!
Jim, a former teacher in my school building is a master of woodworking.  I have several pieces in my home that he has made for me.  His wife, Vicki is a teacher in another school building.  We have not worked side by side, but since we both teach first grade we get together several times a year for meetings.
Love them both.  And being as it's a small world...Vicki's niece was my sorority sister at ISU and her sister was one of my sorority advisors.  Crazy right. We knew each other before we actually knew each other!
Anyways enough about our back story...
Vicki and her husband are the creative genius behind their small business, Color me Chic.  You can shop their booth at the Antique Emporium in Ferdinand, IN.  You can also contact them via their facebook page

Love, Love, Love the blue!!

You can either purchase items that they have purchased, restored and painted or you can take them a piece you already own for them to give it a new look.  I have spoken to Vicki on several occasions about the work they do and I can assure you it is only top notch!
Lucky for Vicki, her husband is a cute are these wooden letters for a mantle display.  These are a pretty popular item in their booth!  They can custom make any phrase for any holiday!
So on to our giveaway...
How would you feel about adding some Valentine's decor to your home??  Well, then like Color Me Chic on facebook and comment below for your chance to win a burlap Valentine's garland or a throw pillow for an accent chair.  Either one-super cute!!
